Steel City Samiches was created when Gary Lang and sons, Shawn, Anthony and Matthew, Realized that there was a lack of late night food options near the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. After research revealed that the only current options were waiting in a line at a gas stations or waiting in line for day old pizza, they decided that Indiana had a great need for a real late night food option.

People have been asking why we spelled our name Samiches, so here is the story. When we decided to open up we needed a name to convey what we were doing. We agreed that Steel City Samiches N’at would get the point across that we were going to make Pittsburgh Style Samiches. Of course we could have spelled Samiches multiple ways, but we picked Samiches because each of the first 3 letters represent Gary’s sons (Shawn, Anthony, and Matthew) “SAM”iches.

With the success of our first location we are looking to expand to other college campuses across the country. We feel that we have the best atmosphere and the best concept for late night food.
